Steve,
I am transplanting the guts out of a crunched 87T (my son's car) into an 89 base 900. So I have just been fishing all those wires from the 87 into the 89. IIRC there is a blue plug, flat, with 2 pins which connects around the center of the back of the speedo. In my case the curved side of the plug is facing upwards, and I think I put it on the top set of pins. Perhaps this is necessary for the fuel pump circuit....I don't recall although I looked at the Bentley wiring diagrams. If you don't have these you should ask someone to copy & email to you.
Also, my 90S wouldn't crank up, same thing with plenty of spark but no fuel. I finally tested directly at the pins on top the fuel pump and found power there, but no fuel pump running (you can hear it come in only when cranking). Check I see if you have power to it...if not you had best look to the Bentley Bible and see what she is lacking. Also there are some tips therein to "hotwire" the fuel pump around the factory safeties.
Good luck.
