I have always used Castrol GTX 10W-30 (Maine). Maybe a little colder in Buffalo = 5W-30? Try using a Saab oil filter (from the Saab Dealer), and the tap might go away (I had an '89 SPG which would tap at cold-start if I used any other oil filter).
Honda MTF in tranny is excellent.
Ensure that the defroster tubes (under the speaker grills) are installed correctly so the defroster air works nicely.
