from my experience this means the transmission has between 25000 and 75000 miles left. I have driven many 900s to their death :( in the USA and Central America. this is the very first sign that the trans is going usually the 2nd gear synchro goes first then the 3rd snychro (this depends on which you use harder) next it will start popping out of gear on its own (first only over bumps) then more frequently, next you lose these 2 gears, then its will start to get stuck in 4th when you shift from 1st to 4th then you'll find that none of the gears work. You can prolong the life greatly by NOT down shifting to 2nd from 5th try doing it in order or at least to 3rd. also do let your hand rest on or push the shifter while in gear it also seems to help. seems like you might be hard on the trans by shift to 2nd from 5th cause this should not be hapenning till at least 150000 to 200000 miles. good luck
