Get yourself a Mig welder and block a good few weekends off. I restored a 1971 Mercedes 250CE that was pretty much rotten at the bottom 6 inches. I had a friend do the majority of the welding as I did not have the space to do it. I helped out where I could and did some of the welding myself. The welding itself is not too hard, you would be best adviced to practice on some sheet metal beforehand. The weld does not need to be perfect as most of the floor, wheel wells etc are out of view and covered in underseal. It is however a nasty and messy job. It almost always is worse then it looks. But on the flip side if you have the space and the time, you could do the work yourself, you would then save a bunch of money and keep a cherished car. Good luck.
