Well, as soon as you have an indentation in the surface Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: You can fix that, Stephen Goldberger, Tue, 30 Sep 2003 21:06:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
of commutator from the arching, the AIC is never gonna work flawlessly again even when the surface is cleaned out.
The spring loaded brushes are gonna dip down into the indentations every time creating a little stumble in idle.
The biggest reason why this is happening (burned spots) is all the people that adjust the TPS out of spec disableing the automatic idle control, leaving the AIC buzzing at the same spot.
I can't tell how many 1000th of cars I have restored to good running cold start idle just by setting the car back to proper specs and cleaning out the throttle body.
Cold start problem seems to be one of the biggest questions that comes back over and over again.
I say 90% of all the cars just needs to be adjusted properly (cost $60.00) and the remaining 10% might need everything from new AMM to rebuilding the engine due to poor performance/compression ($400.00 to $3,000.00.)
