Ok, the slave cylinder is connected to a clutch master which is connected to the brake master cylinder. If you have allowed to much fluid to escape during replacement of the slave cyl. then it is possible that air was inducted into the master cylinder causing poor pedal pressure. Firstly bleed all lines in sequence and do this procedure repeatedly. If that does not cure the problem the master cylinder is bad and will need to be replaced. One other note that I think you mentioned but should check in all locations is leaking of fluid. Even a small leak will cause poor pedal pressure and not be very noticable in the fluid resivoir initially.
