The difference between a base C900 and an SPG is all I can help you with, but WOW sums it up well. I owned an 87 900s for a long time and until it's tranny went out, I'd never driven a turbo. After test driving some SPG's I knew I had to have one, and have had two since! I'll never not own an SPG. They handle great, in stock form, but add springs and shocks to that and you'll outhandle lots of older 80's cars, and some new civics, heh. (Ask me how I know.) Acceleration of the SPG is hard to touch. You're used to the mighty SAAB turbo with your viggen, but going from a 900s to this was incredible. Around twon the SPG would amaze my friends in the lower gears, and blow by many a newer car on the freeway. That being said, cruising around in an SPG is just wonderful. The interior is designed perfectly, to give the feeling of a cockpit, while not being overly complicated at all. They have tons of cargo room for a small car too, with that funky hatchback. Do I even have to mention the styling?
The only complaints I've had with any SPG is the headliner (all 900's have this problem), and the belts are a pain to get to (much rather have belts be in a tight space than the clutch!). Other than that, find yourself a newer than 87 SPG and you'll be happy you got a classic. Good luck!!
