It's kind of a pain in the ass to keep adding 3-5 quarts and draining it...find the trans line from the trans to the cooler and open it...one side is pressure, other is return. If you feel lucky, slap a piece of tubing on one end of the line and put the other end in a bucket. Start up the engine and you have a 50/50 chance of the fluid going into the bucket!!!
Or use two hoses and find the right one without a mess...
Anyway, while the engine is idling and pumping trans fluid into the bucket, you can be merrily filling up the trans by pouring fresh fluid down the trans dipstick hole. Use a funnel.....ask me how I know this.
When the hose into the bucket starts squirting clean ATF, you're done.
Button everything up and set the ATF fluid level (make sure you have at least bottom of the dipstick fluid, warm the trans up, and check/set fluid level to hot level on dipstick).
PS...the non-pressure side of the trans cooler line is NOT a suction line..it won't suck trans fluid.
