It could indeed be the CKP sensor with that age/mileage Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Wed, 26 Nov 2003 21:12:36 In Reply to: I am ready for a really big hammer., Alan, Wed, 26 Nov 2003 20:15:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Since it sounds like you need to reseal the oil pump it could be a good idea to replace the sensor at the same time.
The front engine seal can very well start to leak like that. If your engine have the original (white) seal, it shrinks with age and suddenly a little bit of oil gets in between the seal and oil pump housing and the seal starts to spin.
Usually it happens right after an oil change when the new slippery oil do its work around.
Personally I wouldn't go through all that work to remove and clean the sensor, just to find out the next time you drive the car that it WAS the sensor after all.
I have never seen a EZK box go bad.
Maybe you need a new crank pulley and belts too?
When the car is dead and no spark at distributor cap, check at fuel pump if you have power when cranking over the engine. If not, the CKP sensor is bad.
