I don't believe those A arms are made of aluminum. I'm fairly certain they're made of good old steel. And yes, with age, they can develop cracks and are prone to shearing at the rear stay connection point. Lots of folks here have told tales of the lower A-arm snapping while simply reversing out of a parking spot and applying the brakes. Happened to me not long ago on my 82T. I found a used replacement from a mid-80's 900 and it bolted on perfectly. You know you're going to have to have your suspension re-aligned after you replace that warped A-arm.
