Broken Lower Control Arm, etc

So here's the story I was parking my 89 900 S and as i was backing up and i heard a snap, when i got out the right wheel was bent. I took in my car with what looked like a broken lower control arm. the mechanic called back saying that I also need a new ball joint and front axle on the right side. Total costs for parts: $450+. Apparently, labor will take about 4 - 4.5 hours. So, I'm looking at $950+ to fix. Does this sound right? Should I shop around?
THanks in advance for any suggestions.
