there are a few places that make, "tuned headers" for the c900 non-turbo engine. These headers, the pipes between the engine and the catalytic convertor, actually increase the "pulling effect" or back presure that makes your car run well. The headers are tuned (just like an organ pipe) so that the exhaust pulse from cylinder 1 pulls the exhaust gasses out of the next cylinder that fires. I know there's a place in chicago that makes these for saabs (I've read about them on this site). I assume that one or two places in the twin cities could fabricate these for you (I live in minneapolis). If you were curious you could buy a "cherry bomb" style glass-packed muffler and install it in place of the 2nd muffler at the back of your car. This would dampen the noise from the car less than the standard muffler and would probably not affect performance noticably.
