Bronze colored shimmer in 5spd tranny, how much time?

1984 8 valve 200k
Was having trouble when the engine was cold getting a smooth shift into second gear. I figured that the tranny fluid had never been changed, or at most once or twice in the life of the car. I pulled the plug, and sure enough, there was a nice collection of "junk" on the drain plug. I replaced it with the 80w oil (that's what was in it before, I'm guessing by the smell) and not much improved.
I recently checked the fluid level, and noticed a "golden/bronze shimmer" on the dipstick. Common sense tells me that this is not good. I only need the car until about april/may and then I can get my 93 convertible back out of storage. Do you think I'll make it?
Also, It seems to me that when I first start the car up in the morning that even if the transmission is not in a gear, the car inches forward. In fact, when I first start the car, and let off the clucth, the rpm's drop significantly and sometimes stalls, until it warms up. Any ideas?
