Replacing the entire drive assembly is NOT HARD. My local junk yard warned me that they couldn't guarantee anything, but the parts worked GREAT. I'd say about 1 hour start to finish.
One thing I learned though: Check the belt's movement. If the cassette's frozen, or the solenoid's not behaving, you've got a slightly bigger problem. The belt needs to feed-and-retract smoothly through the motor's cycle.
Are your belts moving freely as they should? (D-side you've said YES, since you move the belt over your head.) My pass-side locked up and then destroyed the motorized system. Ok, I destroyed the motorized system when they locked up and strangled me one day.
Let me know, I can detail my steps on replacing the belt-cassettes without seat disassembly.
