After you get your intake gasket replaced, check the wastegate to see if it moves freely. You'll have to do this from underneath. follow the cannecting rod from the diaphram to the flat metal plate. Grab it with a plier to see if it pivots freely.
Have you checked the turbo bypass valve? It sits under the dist, kind of in the area you hear the hiss. It should hold vaccuum. Check all the other vaccuum components to be sure they all hold vac. A bad diaphram on the charcoal canister could be the problem with boost. You can plug off the line or lines that go to the canister to check, but you should replace it if this is your problem. A vac tester can really help track down this sort of problem.
Also, if you disable the APC (disconect the line that goes to the wastegate and plug) and carefully test drive, after you fix the head gasket, this will tell you if the problem if vac/pressure leaks, or APC problems.
