Have you verified that you have spark at the wires? Posted by RS [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Have you checked to see if you have spark?, Phil, Thu, 8 Jan 2004 08:01:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
That's the key to the situation. If the ignition amplifier doesn't get a signal from the hall effect sensor in the distributor, you won't get spark *and* the ECU won't start the fuel pump - no fuel pressure. The first-line test as to whether the ignition amp is getting someting from the hall effect sensor is to have someone crank the engine while you've got the end of one of the spark plug wires held near a ground point with a screwdriver.
Verify that you get spark at one of the plug wires and we'll go from there. If you have spark, then it's an ECU, fuel pump relay, or fuel pump problem. If not, then it's associated with the ignition amp, hall effect sensor, or the wiring in between.
It's always possible that the fuel pump has frozen or that the ignition amplifier has decided to bag it, but it's best to run the whole troubleshooting path.
