Shifter, Clutch Pedal disaster! Please Advise!

89 900S 5-speed trans. About 3 weeks ago I stupidly loaned out my car for just a few hours. The next time I got in it the gearshift would not move to the reverse position (it would not budge to the right at all). I noticed that the "collar" that you pull up to move the shifter was completely loose obviously not engaging or pulling up anything. All of the other gears worked fine and my local mechanic (husband) said no big deal it's just a broken pin inside the rod of the shifter. (And no, I'm not blaming this on him!) I don't drive alot, but my driveway is a hill, so for the last few weeks I've just coasted back and went about my merry way, my biggest concern being a good parking space. Well, yesterday I was about to park when I heard a noise under the clutch pedal. After that when I pushed the pedal it moved up and down real easy and I believe my car may have stopped going forward. I depressed the pedal a few more times, and heard a loud snap and the clutch pedal went all the way to the floor. I can lift it with the back of my foot, but that's all she wrote. I wish it was a stupid clutch cable, but I know it isn't.
What is my best/worse case senario in your opinions and do you think the two problems are/are not related? I respect this Saab board tremendously and thank you for your time and recommendations.
