any 'no brainer' jobs while engine's out??

my rebuild transmission should be in tomorrow, so they'll be pulling the engine in the next couple days. I saw some posts earlier about repairs to do with the engine out. I don't want to be penny wise and pound foolish, however with the cost of the rebuild and the labor, I'll already be near the $3,000 mark, so it's really tough to throw too much more money at the car.
is there anything that would be stupid NOT to do with the engine out? a gasket or bearing that's an easy replace? estimated cost of the part and labor?
btw, the car, 88 900tc, has about 120k on it. clutch and pilot bearing are less than a year old. mechanic mentioned the timing chain makes noise and the engine leaks a bit.
thanks very much for any advice.
