Mine does the exact same thing.
Tried several resistor packs - 2 motors.
I checked the current on 1-2-3-4 an they were all well below 30.
It seems to give up when you use #4.
So,I avoided using #4 speed and it lasted about a week.
Then poof - fuse gone again.
Pull the resistor pack and see of it's closed (the little spring/lever thing on the inside). It should do this when the pack heats up. Then the spring 'lever thing shorts out, blows the fuse.
It "should" open back up when it cools, but mine doesn't.
I was going to get a amp gauge and hook it into the fuse pannel in place of the 30a fuse (put a 60 in line w/ the gauge if it is a 60 a gauge so you don't kill it). Then make it so the resistor pack can't close (put electrical tape on the lever where it would hit. I may have the open/closed thing backwards. I think the Bently talks about the "Thermo Protection"acpect of the system.
This MAY help sort out the problem.
If I make any headway, I'll post it.
That is #3 in the project completion list though.
