lean running condition starting to make some sense?

Wierdness. On a whim I unplugged the AMM and tried to start the engine to see if it still ran. Nope. Plugged it back in and it seemed to run better. Checked the O2 sensor and it was .2 volts but not decaying. I unplugged the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator and found that the O2 sensor was now swinging from .8 volts to .2 volts and back. I also noticed that the fitting at the regulator was getting some seepage which I haven't noticed before.
So what's my conclusion? No more than a guess really. I'm guessing that trying to start the engine with the AMM gone must have somehow reset the ECU. I'm also guessing that the regulator is bad because before I replaced the turbo bypass valve I was not pulling near as much vacuum as I do now, and at that time I was getting a voltage of .8 from the O2 sensor. I can only guess that the extra vacuum is causing the regulator to dump all the fuel back to the tank. (Of course I need to get a pressure gauge to be sure)I only get the seepage when I unplug the vacuum line to the regulator.
None of this suprises me as the car sat in a field for close to two years before I got it. I just need to add it to the list of things I've replaced.
