The drain for the auto trans is a small screw forward of the larger hex head engine oil drain. Lets give her and the shop the benefit of the doubt and say they did drain the trans because it is in the realm of possibility for someone unfamiliar with a SAAB to make the mistake.
Draining the transmission from the plug would result in it being about 2.5 quarts low....BUT not empty. Most of the fluid gets held up in the torque converter when it is drained this way. I suppose it is possible for the car to operate in that condition for a while but I think a 10 hour drive is pushing it. But...maybe this is possible.
I don't think it is possible for the crankcase to be overfilled by 4 quarts and operate for that period of time without some major problems occuring though! Unless they just ended up topping off the engine oil instead of adding a full fill. They usually work in teams of 2 or 3 guys at those places so...who knows. Bad communication. Those guys are not at the top of the mechanics food chain so I guess it is possible.
Either way....I think it going to be hard to pin it on Jiffy Lube. The automatic trans on these cars have a spotty history at best so regular mechanical failure is going to be hard to rule out.
