As far as isolating and checking the overboost circuit - I knew where the switch was, located the connecting wires, noted their color scheme and followed them back to the fuse box where I simply spliced them together below the fuse box. I first noticed the short with unexpected sudden fuel pump failure that would normalize as soon as it occured. Symptomatic of bad wiring/connections. While searching for the problem I noticed when I wiggled the main interior wiring plug up above my left knee (behind the carpet against the interior wall) I could cause the pump to fail. That's when I reasoned it had to be the plug connection and specifically that circuit since no other elec problems surfaced.

As far as replacing wiring - first check the harness by cutting open the plastic covering afnd look inside. Bad insulation will be visibly evident - crumbled, spotty bare wire. Replacing it is a matter of cutting it out and soldering in a new good wire. Or you can rewrap the bad insulation with elec tape or tape made specifically for that purpose.
