Here's an update on my story. I've been getting some whine in third and fourth around 1500-2000 rpms, so I decided to start chanign the fluid regularly. Last night was the first time I've done it myself, and it was horrifying. There was a ton of metal in there! I had it changed once before when I got the car, and I don't think that they cleaned the filter or the magnet because there was a ton of stuff on it. I think that someone may have knocked a tooth off since then. I'm not allowing anybody to drive it ever again. Anyway, I filled it up with Schaeffer's Supreme 7000 semi-syn (lots of moly) and 10w-40 Mobil Drive Clean. The noise is still there, but it shifts smooth as silk. I think that I'm going to start changing at every oil change (5000mi)
