Jim, Thanks for the message back. My plug wires are new Bosch premium grades so I looked past that option. However, your knock sensor theory seemed logical due to the fact that the burn marks on the distributor 'contacts' and the rotor seemed far to the edge, like maybe it was retarding the spark too much or not enough. I slightly adjusted the distributor a bit closer to the middle of the 'contacts', took off the knock sensor and cleaned what looked to be a bit of grime around the edges, replaced with the sensor with the coupler turned 20deg from front of car and torqued to 12ftlbs (both according to previous knock sensor posts). I also added some SFR ONE to the petrol to help clean the fuel system (I also use the oil additive-for the last 6yrs I'm sold on SFR). I then took a 500 mile trip. Not once did it shudder, loose power, or cause the CE light to blink. It ran flawlessly with smoother acceleration and it went from getting about 22MPG before, to 29.5MPG on the highway driving about 75MPH average! Just wanted to thank you Jim for your great advice! For now this Saab story is done. Tracy
