Fuel pump issues? Help!!! Posted by Ken [Email] (#2113) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ken) on Wed, 25 Feb 2004 17:02:09 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Almost got home this evening before my 88' 8v died on me. I was running low on gas, but the gauge was still reading just above the red. I was coming around the high-banked curve of my exit when the engine sputtered and died. I coasted to a stop and tried starting. It would start for a second or two then die. I thought at first that I had run out of gas. I walked down the street and bought a gallon of gas (the only cans they had). Put that in and same thing start for a second then die. Also, when I was trying to start, I didn't hear the fuel pump priming.
I just tried jumpering the relay and the pump seems to work. Bad relay? Also, the gas gauge appears to be dead. Not registering anything. Like I said, I was low but not THAT low. I don't know if the two things are related, but it sure seems likely.
Please help and please don't let it be something "weird".
TIA
K
