bear with me, this could be long. the subject is covered in a random fashion all over the bbs, but i'm having a hard time collecting all the info i think i need and thought it might be easier to start another thread. subject car is a 1988 900S. i bought the car 3 months ago. soon after my purchase, the idle started to wander between 800-1400. it really didn't have an effect on the performance, just a small nuisance. about two weeks ago, the car started surging and stalling. mostly during lower gear operations, 1st, 2nd, 3rd. once i could get it into fifth, things seemed normal. so far, the car has always restarted right away. but the condition remains aftger the restart. i should mention, it doesn't do it all the time, but when it is, idle is real rough and inconsistent, all the way from 0 to 2500 rpm or more. it will die when i step on the clutch, and until then it just surges and jerks, almost violently. symptoms began, for what it's worth, after i was rear ended at a stop light, no visible damage, but it was a good bump. previous research on this bbs tells me to check a whole bunch of things, AMM, ECU, dash pot, AIC valve, Cap/rotor, fuel pump, OS, etc. any help narrowing this thing down would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
