Calculating possible speed with a known distance?

I received a speeding ticket this morning for 56 in a 35 and before today I've had a perfect driving record. I've been driving longer than what I haven't. I sped up to pass a semi truck that was coming into my lane and I was probably speeding but I know that I wasn't going anywhere near that fast. I saw the officer at the same time that it would have been possible for him to see me and he had already lowered his gun and was entering the roadway. This means the only way he could have had a line of sight on me is if he was firing the laser under the semi-truck and that doesn't seem very dependable. I'm trying to figure out an equation to calculate how fast I could have been going in a known distance. I measured the distance tonight as between 850 and 900ft max. Anyone have any ideas for a bone stock '85 Turbo 4D. I'm just looking for more fodder to fight this in court.
Thanks,
Ryan Goldade
