I would forget about the CV boot, and opt for a rebuilt axle. I work for an auto parts wholesaler, and I have not sold 1 boot in the last 8 months, while I have sold thousands of axles. For the price difference, it is not worth the bother to replace the boot ( my place sells the axles for $49.95 )
The axle must be dissasembled from the inner end in order to replace the outer boot (a real PITA).
The exact metric sizes for the ball joint bolts is 11/16" (17mm) on the head & nut, the tie rod nut & wheel lug nuts are 3/4" (19mm), and the drive axle nut is 1-1/4"
(32mm) and you can use the standard inch size wrenches.
I have found that with an air impact wrench, I can change ball joints in about 15 minutes. With hand tools, this could take hours (bolts break, bolt is rusted thru ball joint, needs lots of penetrating oil). The way the torque is applied with an impact gun tends to free up the bolt from the rust, and rarely snaps the bolt heads off.
Don't bother with the spacers, use a piece of hardwood (oak is good), or a few washers taped together to stack about an inch high.
