I did this once before I knew better

I put 80w90 in my tranny soon after I purchased the car (for $500). When I had the same cold shifting problems months later, I read up on what was supposed to be in there. I switched to regular 10w40. I didn't flush, didn't do anything special, and it's still shifting just fine 4 years later. And it still pops out of reverse if I don't hold it in, just like it did when I bought it.
