in-car valve spring removal question

Ok, so supposedly the replacement valve spring is showing up today, and thinking through the install job, I have a question:

I'm replacing an exhaust valve spring in Cyl 2, so I want Piston 2 to be as close to the top of a stroke as possible (so the valve can't fall in). When I pulled the exhaust cam to be able to check the lifters and valves, I put the motor at TDC -- so now pistons 1 and 4 are at the top of their stroke.

That said, what's the best way to rotate the engine with only the intake cam in? Do I have a friend play "pulley" and tension the chain as I slowly crank a drive wheel, or do I go to all of the trouble of pulling the intake cam so that all of the intake valves are closed and I can rotate the crank w/o worrying about interference?

I know that pulling the cam will work, but it seems like so much trouble when I just need *1* crank rotation...
