If you're not getting low enough temp at the evaporator/vent, you can try adding a half can of R134A, easily available w/o cert.
But R134A systems can be very sensitive to over/underfill...don't overfill! And don't continue to add refrigerant if you have a leak without adding some (proper) compressor oil/lube (R134A takes a diffo lube than R12!!!).
You may have to have the system evacuated and properly refilled...a good shop uses a weight scale to add exactly the right amount of refrigerant.
Since your system is still pressurized (and even more so if you add R134A) you could also add a pressurized dye compatible with R134A and find any leaks....makes fixing leaks easier for the shop...otherwise they have suck/recycle and pressurized with nitrogen to find the leak and then purge again...costs more money.
