The courtesy lights and speakers sound like stock. Auto can be switched to 5 speed, but as you would imagine, not in your lunch break. There are features on the web if you search. The auto box is only 3 speed, and I think it's pretty reliable, even if it does take the fun out of an SPG. If you do highway crusing at speed, the car is noisier than a coupe, and with an auto box expect noisier still. That said, top down, sunny day, life is good. Roof down with windows up is actually quieter than a coupe with windows down - air flow stuff!
Can't speak for Canadian winter, but I can't imagine it can be much colder with a soft top. The heaters are good, built for Sweden remember, but I think these can be temperamental too, so check that it works fully. All should have heated seats, but these are temperamental too. Check the b-boards and you'll see.
Can't comment on price because I'm not in Canada, and I guess prices differ. Unless this is a REAL bargain, but only if you are prepared to travel I would keep on looking. Find a 5 speed with SPG skirts. Must be many folks who are trading up to a new 9-3, BMW-3, A4 convertable, and these cars tend to have been cared for. Many have leather. Leather is easier to find and put in after than SPG skirts - seems easy but they are enourmously fiddly. Look for a late model with the larger rear spoiler, which wrap the car and come down the window bottoms right up to the mirrors. Looks much better.
Try and get an original roof cover with it, this is a 3 piece hard plastic cover, matching your seat colour, and it covers the roof when it is down, and makes it look great.
The wooden dash is a saab option, and can be found, easy to fit after if you need to.
Secret is that these are much better than the 'new shape 900' convertable, but joe car buyer wants a new looking car. Get a good one and it will hold its value by appealing to the Saab crowd. Get a base model (900i), and it won't appeal to the saab crew or joe average when the market is full of new gen 900 convs (as it is now).
If you're used to using your trunk with rear seats down to transport wardrobes for your aunt, then you're gonna miss that space; the trunk just about holds a weeks grocery for four. It's also a four seater, and is not legal for five passengers. The strengthened chassis and all that roof gear and motor adds to the weight than the stock 900 - so 16v turbo helps.
Hope this helps. If you don't agree, hey just go for it!
