No-start '83 turbo; need windows up

I'm trying to resurrect a friend's '83 Turbo that's been dormant for a few months. I jump-started it and ran it parked for at least 30 minutes, then took it for a spin around the block; it died instantly at an intersection within three minutes. Presumably, the alternator isn't working, because not even the hazard lights would go on. In-car voltmeter was reading ~14 while running it post jump-start. Or is it the alternator?
Now, towed back to the house, I can't jump it--turn the key & get nothing. I know the battery's hooked up to another running car's, but it's as if something isn't letting the power get here.
There's some sort of ignition control relay that was pretty warm after the car died; not sure exactly what it does, but jumpering its pins didn't help. Fuses are good; alt. ground wire is good, ground connection at battery is somewhat loose but clean.
I don't need to start the car again, but I do need to get one of the windows up. Any suggestions on how I can get 12v to the window without pulling the interior off it would be helpful; the car is in Seattle and it ain't sunny today!
Thanks...
