I have a 88' 900 turbo in need of a fuel filter replacement. The screw holding the filter bracket is made of ~99% rust and there is nothing left to unscrew it with. Also, bolts leading into filter are quite rusty (wire brushed off several flaky layers of rust until something resembling a bolt emerged.) Filter has been on there for maybe 70k so I am guessing its removal will provide for an entertaining afternoon.
I would like to replace the bolts and bracket to make life easier next time. Any idea where I can get these? I don't see them listed in the Saab quick reference parts manual or on E-europarts or TheSaabSite.com? Is this a job for me (I've changed them before, but not so rusty), some poor unsuspecting mechanic at Midas, or the dealer? Lastly, why the heck did Saab put this thing under the car???
