You probably cooked the fluid.
You can bring it to a place that can do the 100% flush for about $80 or DIY.
I'd drain it, drop both pans and clean the filter.
Then do a couple of drain and fills.
I think it takes 5 or so to get 90+% of the fluid changed.
drain fill start idle for 30 seconds, reverse 30 seconds, first 30 seconds neutral 30 seconds drain repeat. This makes sure the fluid is 100% circulated. Use the Advance ATF brand - same as Havoline and usually $0.99 or get the 5 quart one.
If this doesn't work and it shifts poorly ONLY one the 1-2 shift or 2-3 shift you damaged the bands or clutch packs.
If it does it on both the 1-2 and 2-3 keep flushing more.
If you want to do driving schools in that car, get a big trans cooler and trans temp gauge. Bigger cooler the better.
