Help. My 91t convert pressurizes the cooling system even if it is only run for a mintue, after sitting overnight. Is there any reason, aside from a failing headgasket, that could cause this?? I know the obvious signs of headgasket failure and nothing, other than slight coolant loss and a perpetually hissing cap would indicate a problem.
**What are the chances that a faulty, internally cracked water-cooled turbo cause cause such a rapid pressure buildup?** Anybody ever experience such an issue?
History- The motor has 87k on it and was litterally driven by an elderly woman. An inspection of the cooling system and internal passages while motor was out for a trans swap showed amazingly little buildup; indicating regular service. Motor has never overheated and is running the colder 'stat and switch combo. All four plugs are evenly and normal. Coolant needs slight (1 quart) topping-off every 1000k miles and nothing abnormal coming from the exhaust. No coolant smell either. Cap recently replaced, timing checks out, etc...
Any ideas?
