I just went narrower

Hey Alex,
I'd say go back to 195/60s. I just traded in my T-rated 195/60 Pirelli P400s for H-rated 185/65 BFG Traction T/As. The difference is astounding! They handling is quicker & the cornering grip is way better than the Pirellis ever were, even when they were new. I've been a fan of BFG tires for about 15 yrs, but these are even better than I expected. They're the first directional tire I've ever had, so I'm sure that has something to do with their vast improvement over the P400s. I also expect winter driving to be a huge improvement over what I've been dealing with for the past few years on the Pirellis.
The only dissapointment has been in their spin-up. I was hoping for slightly quicker acceleration on the highway, since I was going from a 195/60 to a 185/65. Unexpectedly, these tires are so strongly-built that they're a touch heavier than the bigger tires they replaced! The tire shop had to special-order 'em in, so I wasn't able to do a direct comparison against any other 185s. But, while I was there I looked at both the H-rated 195/60 Traction T/A & the H-rated 195/60 Avid H4S the shop was pushing. The BFG out-weighed the Yoko by a good five pounds! And I could get the Avid to flex easily, while the T/A had an obviously heavier casing & was very resistant to flexing. Oh, & the 195 BFG was visibly wider than the 195 Yoko. So much so, that I'm guessing my 185 Traction T/As are at least as wide as the 195 Avid H4Ss were.
Go with these new H-rated 195/60 BFGs & I think you won't be disappointed. Discount Tire even lets you try 'em out for 30 days after you buy, & if you don't like 'em you can exchange within this period for something else.
