New AIC - Same problem Posted by NP [Email] (#244) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NP) on Wed, 2 Jun 2004 05:15:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Car: 1989 900T 120K
Problem: I replaced the old AIC after the cleaning step appeared not to have fixed the problem. The new AIC has not improved things - the idle problem is still present. The idle speed is within the normal idle range when the car is first turned on (both cold and warm starts ... although the warm start is a shorter time interval before the problem exhibits itself) and then for no known reason, the idle increases to around 1,200 to 1,600 rpm after an average time interval of 30 seconds.
There are no vacuum leaks (inspected by a Saab mechanic), but the idle does decrease to within the normal range when the hose that enters the AIC from the side (at a right angle to the length of the AIC) is squeezed and held closed.
I have reviewed the past AIC postings and have not found a solution ... any ideas?
Many thanks.
Nick
