Mike, I just posted about a Timing/overheating issue. My overheating is in fact, the 3/4 range. I'm in Massachusetts, so I share the same recent hot weather. My experiences with Saabs, along with the head gasket or head replacement concerns, would make me concerned about that heat range at length. I never ever get anywhere past half way on the temp gauge on my other Saabs. I did, have an issue on one last year, and not knowing the age of the waterpump, I tried to band-aid it with a bottle of waterpump lube. Believe it or not, that actually worked!! That one too was moving up to the 2/3 range, not 3/4, but after that, it never reached anything past half. It is worth a try. I would say If you have a Saab with a 3/4 heat range issue...and you like the car...address it. Fixing it is better than pulling the head.
