Both 900 turbos that I have had (1986 and 1993) displayed that problem. They were both five speeds. There was not a smooth transition from a low speed to a faster speen and if the gas peddal was released the car "bounced" a time or two until it eventually stabelized at a slower speed. It was always dificult for me to describe the problem to a mechanic and Im no better at describing it now. But it is not a subtle problem and if someone drives the car it is readily apparent that something is not right.
On the 1986 900 the problem was corrected during a normal service at the dealership but I never knew what it was that they did to correct the problem. I dont recall being charged for any special parts so I always assumed that the correction only involved an adjustment of some sort. A few years later the problem resumed and was never corrected by other service/repairs. The 1993 turbo that I now have has done this ever since Ive had the car (a few months). Between the '86 and '93 Saab's I had a Volvo 850 (I know, it's heresy, if not incest) that never displayed any similar problem. I would also love to know how to correct the problem.
