True Market Value (TMV) generally has nothing to do with NADA, KBB, or Edmunds. Edmunds doesn't have nearly enough information to be putting out price guides but that's for a different post. Both NADA and Kelley get their information from auto dealers. Auto dealers in turn get their information from either NADA or KBB. This creates a strange circle that doesn't tend to yield true info for anything other than vehicles 8-10 years old and newer.
The biggest problem with looking up '91 automobiles in these guides is that well over 75% of the cars in this vintage are being sold between private parties, and because of that their statistical base is too small to build a pricing scheme on. The other problem would be that your talking about a Saab. Saabs are always worth more than the average car to people like you and I because we want them and consider them collectible. Especially an SPG. So no matter what sales data these guides collect it isn't going to mean squat to someone that really wants a car that doesn't come along every day. Let's face it....an SPG is not just another car. It was manufactured by the hundreds not the hundred-thousands (or near millions like Honda, 774,000 civics placed on the road just last year) and only between '85 and '91.
Whatever you pay for it just make sure that everything checks out and you'll never feel ripped off. Insurance doesn't cost anything more than any other car of it's worth unless you throw a fit like I did and make them cover it for it's TMV based on local SPG sales which are $5K or better when you can find them.
