Ohhhh Yes!
This sounds like a stress or weak point has been created somewhere, or a connector has become high in resistance. (If it was open circuit, there would be no residual voltage). This can be due to vibration, friction or a manufacturing fault that has taken time to surface.
Just follow the wires back as far as you can and see and keep chasing the 1.5 volts. You will soon discover where the voltage drop occurs.
To confirm the operation of the box, you could make a temporary bridge from battery through a 5 amp fuse, to pin 4 of the box. If the box is ok, the doors will work. If not, what have you got to lose, the box.
Good Luck
Clive
