Temperature WILL climb when going up an incline, it all depends on how far up the gauge it goes. If it stops a 3/4 gauge I wouldn't worry at all. If it reach the red line you might need a new radiator.
If you have the original radiator in there I would suggest putting a new turbo radiator in. The original size turbo radiator is big enough for all climates.
Keep in mind if you are using the A/C at the same time that you do put A LOT of extra heat in front of the radiator by having the hot A/C refrigerant circulating through the condenser.
Lastly, if you still have a problem it might infact be the cylinder headgasket that has corroded and opened up cooling ports between the head and engine that are suppose to be closed off to direct the coolant flow in a certain way.
Both head and engine have extra cooling channels but they are blocked off by the head gasket to force the coolant to take a certain path. If the gasket is corroded away at some of those ports the coolant take the easiest way through the engine and that can reduce the cooling effect.
