well as air temperature rises you do lose power, as the air isn't as dense. the only way to keep that power is to have cooler air going into engine so you can get more bang from each "mouthful". colder air is better compressed so you get more air/fuel in and a bigger explosion to make your car go :-)
thats where better intercooling and/or intercooler cooling, water injection, and the like come in. on the plus side you are not having the same number of hot days as arizona or florida right?
hopefully some of the guys and girls here will have more technical or practical ideas to help, but you are correct in your observations that youre not getting all you can as temp goes up. mark
