You can rework the mounts it just takes work. In my case it was faster to fab up new seat mounts then it would have been to reskin (but reskining is not a bad move). I just used some sheet steal I had (I think it was 1/16 thick) and jumpered the old holes in the car to the holes on the seat and it worked well (used strips of steal 1" wide by 2" or so long making sure to keep seat centered). They don't move at all. Only thing is if you had the seat belts that bolted to the seats then this DOES NOT work as it would be unsafe. But I beleve that they do not in 85. Oh I did this on an 88 but my 85 looks to be close. Good Luck
