I've heard different stories on how to properly test the O2 sensor. Bentley says to run the test with the sensor lead disconnected, so does Tom Townsend. But I've always assumed the test was done connected. I tried both ways:
With the sensor connected, the DMM is all over the place - not swinging, all over the place. With the sensor disconnected, it barely reads over 0v. This should work just fine, as even though the ECU is doing it's own thing, the O2 sensor is still getting a reading from the exhaust...
Anyway, I tried affecting the mixture last night - no change with a massive air leak or with the FPR plugged. Even tried disconnecting the AMM to throw the car in ultra-rich limp home mode, and nothing...
Definitely sounds like a bad O2 sensor... guess I'll go ahead and grab a new one.
