Well, I bought a '92 with good bones that needs a tranny. It's driveable now, but it suffers from the standard popping out of reverse, 3rd, 4th.

I'll be ordering a rebuilt from Andrews of Princeton and installing it in a few weeks. I've been following threads about tranny replacement, and I've noted a number of tasks that are smart to handle at the same time. As far as my plan, here's what I think I'll do:
1. Pull engine & tranny. I was planning on building a frame from 2x8 lumber frame over the engine bay to support the drivetrain when I pull it out. Is this a bad idea?
2. I was planning on replacing the following while the engine was out:
- clutch
- oil seal f&r
- engine mounts (if needed)
- alternator bushings
- ball joints
- control arm bushings
3. I was going to clean the engine compartment while engine was out
4. New hoses, plug wires

The car is rust free & I hope to get another 150k out of her.

Thoughts on this approach?
