Like the others have indicated, with advanced timing for low end power increase, adjusting the distributor vac unit to compensate for loss of retard under boost is necessary. However, when you extend the operating range of the vac unit like that, you can create a dead spot in the boost curve. That's where delay units (or simple restrictions) attached to the vac/boost line connected to the vac unit come in handy. The other thing you have to worry about when advancing the timing is being able to pass emissions tests, and if the engine is not in good condition (carbon buildup inside the combustion chambers) you risk detonation under normal driving conditions, which leads to valve seat wear, loss of compression, bad gas milage and worse.
