When a tie rod end goes the car will pull under accel and wander. i also think you might have detected a bad wheel bearing or loose axle nut. Usually(but not always) the bad bearing is the side that gets loaded on turns. Check the left side first. If axle nut is loose(less likely), the bearing will be shot on that side.
If you jack up the front end, pull both front wheels and run the car in third gear so the hubs spin. A makeshift stethoscope(big screwdriver)touched to the spindle will transmit the rough growling sound to your ear(screwdriver handle). Be careful of rotating hub and make sure car is on jackstands.
