Yeah, I figured it was doing more than just holding oil there... Sounds like that piece has Got to go. The link to the manual is great, but looks a little scary for something to attempt in less than a week. I'm not sure that I'm understanding it correctly, but it appears that removing the primary drive case is not as localized an operation as I'd hoped.
As for borrowing a car, my car has to come away with me because it's in a borrowed space where it can't stay much longer. (I know, Note To Self: Never Again) So I guess I may Have to either swap whole boxes or get some money back...
